Hanukkah holiday food at Aron's Deli

All this week we're celebrating Hanukkah.

Food fried in oil is traditionally eaten at Hanukkah, most notably latkes which are a permanent fixture on our brunch menu.

Ours latkes are currently a mixture of grated potato, swede and onion, mixed with some matzo meal and whole eggs and seasoned with plenty of black pepper. They're served one of four ways: plain, with apple sauce, with horseradish and dill flavoured sour cream or with sour cream and smoked salmon and capelin caviar.

Hake fried in bread crumbs with tartar sauce and served with parsley potatoes will also be served all this week.

The new Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich is proving popular with both new customers and regulars and being fried in oil it's also good for the Hanukkah holiday. We fry corn fed chicken breast in a matzo crust and serve it in a challah sub roll with an apple slaw in a lemon, garlic & horseradish mayo. It's also available with an optional chopped liver schmear!

Finally we'll also be serving a Chicken Deli Plate special next week. The plate is comprised of four elements:
- Hot smoked chicken salad with grapes & walnuts in a light vinaigrette dressing.
- Zsidó Tojás / Hungarian Jewish egg salad
- Chopped liver
- Gribenes (chicken crackling)

Happy Hanukkah from everyone at Aron's Deli.
